We got up early to do so some photography on our way to San Francisco, a small picturesque beach town 30 minutes south of us. There was a spot between us an
d San Pancho that I have been wanting to shoot for a couple months. Fortunately there was a road to get off the highway and it went directly to the river bank.
Had to get down to San Pancho (San Francisco) to visit with friends by 9:00. Her friend from Guadalajara served us an interesting quick bread, sweet with ground almonds (almendra). We breakfasted at a nice cafe (Maria's) which we highly recommend. My pesto omelet with Gouda cheese, zucchini squash, green onions and pesto was fantastic. Walked the beach to the estero to shoot some bird life, although this time of day wasn't the best for lighting and number of birds. Victor got into the vulchers (zopilotes) eating some garbage on the beach.

An interesting dog in Mexico is the hairless Ixquintla which we saw at the beach.

I love this beach more than Guayabitos, for it is not on a bay and the ocean waves are powerful here which creates a dramatic scene confronting you as you approach the water. The beach is clean, and a couple restaurants have beach palapas with seating on the sand under the palm trees which is quite pleasant. The breezes are lovely. After relaxing and a little nap in the shade, we had refreshing limonadas (fresh squeezed limes, slightly sweetened, and mineral water) on ice. The surfing here is not crowded like the surfing town of Sayulita 10 minutes south. But the waves can get quite large and strong here, so beginners would be better off at Sayulita.
