Anika Visits

Anika came to visit us for two weeks on May 6. She hadn't been down here for two years! Was she ready for a Mexico vacation or what? And what a restful vacation she had. It consisted mostly of lying in the hammock reading novels, and she must have read almost half a dozen. She also spent time up on top of the house on the white roof, a great place to tan. She got to know our cats, Sheila and Sharmaine and seemed to really fall for Sharmaine, letting her sleep with her at night, lucky cat. Surfing the internet was a good way to spend vacation time... in other words, just lazing about, doing whatever she felt like. Some walks into town, going to the Guayabitos beach and the island. A little bit of local sightseeing to small towns of Alta Vista and Divisidero which holds an incredible view south looking at the coastline and the island in the Bay of Jaltemba where our town La Penita lies. One morning we drove south via Sayulita to Punta Mita for a breakfast meeting for networking in Nayarit. After meeting folks from the area down there, and Bucerias and Nuevo Vallarta, we went to see some people' home on the ocean in Punta Mita which was incredibly beautiful.

During her two week
visit, she never picked up a paintbrush even. That's because she didn't buy any canvas (she did bring brushes and paint) but decided to give her arms and body a good rest and truly take a break from her usual painting routine. To see her paintings go to two galleries she is in, Jack Dennis Wyoming Gallery in Jackson, WY and Montana Tierra in Livingston, Montana. Maybe on a future visit, she will paint more of the local scenes here in the Bay of Jaltemba area.

At the end of the two weeks, we spent a night at Hotel Rosita in Puerto Vallarta, lounging at the pool and walking the malecon, dining. Next morning we dropped Anika at the airport and Victor and I began our trip to San Miguel de Allende. Next blog.
